Itinerary

Setting off at a relaxed pace, and with plenty of opportunities to stop and snap that photograph that will have everyone back home jealous, your guide will begin to tell you all about this beautiful city. You’ll pass the El Capitolio building, similar to the Capitol building in Washington DC, and the seat of government before Fidel Castro’s communist revolution. Until the 1950s it was the tallest building in Havana and now houses the Cuban Academy of Sciences.
You’ll pass El Floridita, the fish restaurant and cocktail bar that was the haunt of the Nobel Prize winning American author Ernest Hemingway for many years while he lived just outside Havana, the extraordinarily ornate exterior of the Gran Teatro de La Habana (home of the Cuban National Ballet), and the Museo de la Revolucion, housed in the pre-revolutionary presidential palace.
Your guide will also point out the art deco stylings of the former Bacardi building and take you past the heavenly Parque Central Square, Havana’s Museum of Fine Arts, and Calle Obispo – a street renowned as a place to enjoy a drink as the sun goes down, and one of the many places on the tour you might consider returning to at another time during your stay in the capital.
Before the tour ends you will also be shown the capital’s fantastic squares, since they are important public spaces utilised to the maximum by residents of the capital. You’ll get to see Plaza San Francisco de Asis, Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza de Armas, and Plaza Vieja.
As the tour ends your guide can provide you with further ideas for excursions and activities, or options for a meal should you be hungry. With a new or renewed taste for Cuba’s amazing capital and its people you’ll probably wonder why it took you so long to visit in the first place!
